Our Sight Barrier Cloth  is a functional, aesthetically pleasing fabric constructed of U.V.-stabilized polypropylene yarns.  Our product is permeable to air and water and is resistant to most chemicals: Therefore, they won't mildew or rot. This product is used primarily for:

     If you are new to deer farming, the first thing you are going to find out is that stress is the biggest enemy you face.

     When given the wrong stimulus, whitetail can react in wild, often unforeseen ways.

     There are lots of stories out there about whitetail deer hurting or even killing themselves.

     I am going to give you an example that fortunately didn't kill the deer but caused injuries which could have killed her.

     I had always used Sight Barrier around the outside of my pens but not necessarily between pens. My pens aren't large but they wouldn't be considered particularly small either. I had several does in two adjoining pens. They would normally congregate along the fence separating them (as normal for most livestock). I entered the pen and the deer separated as usual except for one doe. This doe (bottle raised and normally calm) decided that she should go with the does on the other side of the fence. I saw her running back and forth along the fence as if trying to get through it. It was then that I saw that she was actually pushing against the fence as she ran. The result was that she knocked off all of the hair on both shoulders and caused serious abrasions which had to be treated with antibiotics.

We were very lucky. The Sight Barrier would have prevented this.

In the right circumstances, deer will try to go through a fence (because they can see through it). This doesn't happen with opaque barriers.

Without the visual stimulation, bucks in adjacent pens tend to ignore each other as well.
